How to Enable Extended Logging and Share Debug Information

Overview

If you're experiencing issues with the Vaam Chrome extension, our support team might ask you to provide debug logs to help troubleshoot. This article will guide you through enabling extended logging and downloading debug information when needed.

Enabling Extended Logging

Click on the menu icon (three dots) in the top right corner of the Vaam extension
From the dropdown menu, navigate to and click on "Enable extended logging"
You'll see a checkmark next to this option when it's successfully enabled

Recording Your Issue

After enabling extended logging:
Use Vaam as you normally would
Complete the actions that typically cause the problem you're experiencing
Make sure to capture the full sequence leading up to the issue

Downloading Debug Logs

Once you've reproduced the issue:
Click on the menu icon (three dots) again
Select "Download debug info" from the dropdown menu
A file named  vaam-debug-logs.zip  will be saved to your downloads folder
Send this file to us and we'll try to help you figure out the problem.

Disabling extended logging

Once you have sent the debugging logs, you can disable extended logging again. Follow the same steps as when you enabled it.

Note

The debug logs contain technical information about how the extension was functioning during your session. They don't include personal content from your recordings but help our team understand what might be causing technical issues.
